Frequently Asked Questions

How long will my exterior paint job last?

It depends primarily on they type of work, location, and the products you use. If you have a commercial building with very little shade, your paint job will bear the brunt of all that nature has to offer. From the winter sleet to the intensity of the summer sun, the life of your paint will be affected. In short, a home in a shady yard should get between 15 and 20 years if you use a better grade acrylic paint. Commercial buildings should see about 10 years of service out of good paint job. Our recommendation to both commercial and residential customer is to make sure the painter preps the surface well by pressure washing, caulking, and priming any bare wood and then using a better grade exterior paint from one of the leading paint manufacturers. But let’s face it, there’s nothing quite like a great new paint job to drum up a little excitement!

Should I be worried about having painting done while my employees and customers are around?

There are many valid concerns to having your business interior painted with customers and employees around. First, you need to consider the potential trouble of people accidentally getting paint on themselves of their property. This is the biggest concern we always have and one you should seriously consider when thinking about scheduling your project. Second is the fumes. Some people are very sensitive about smells. We have a few tools in our arsenal to combat this one. First, we always use low VOC products unless you have need of a high performance paint like epoxy. Second, we can use scrubbers to clean the air as we work. These machines filter the air to remove both particulate (dust) and odor using HEPA and charcoal filters. Finally, you are probably worried about having tradesman around your business – will they behave themselves? Our crews are trained and disciplined to be polite, friendly and will behave accordingly. We can work with your schedule too. If you feel more comfortable with us working at night or on the weekends, we have the ability to make those arrangements too.

What products do you use?

We use a wide variety of products from specialty metallic paints to your everyday commercial grade products. Our skillset is quite varied. For residential interior work, we recommend the Duration line by Sherwin Williams, the Ultralast line by PPG, or Regal Select by Benjamin Moore. These products will hold up to most of the abuse that commonly occur. For residential exterior work, we recommend Duration by Sherwin Williams, Permanizer by PPG or the Regal line from Benjamin Moore. Commercial work will need a custom spec written based on you use, but, typically, we use PPG SpeedHide or Sherwin Williams ProMar 200 for most low maintenance applications. We also have access to a full line of industrial products should your project require them. For doors and trim, we recommend Sherwin Williams Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel – there is nothing quite like it!

Do you screen your employees?

Yes. We perform background checks on all of our employees and we screen them for drugs upon employment and once a year after that. You can rest assured that we care about the safety of our crews and your business or home and will do everything we can to ensure a safe and productive workplace.

When is the best time to paint my house?

We always recommend painting exteriors in the Spring or Fall. Painting in the winter in Indiana can be tricky with the wide ranges in our weather. Summer is often very dry and hot and could cause the paint to dry too quickly and make the color or sheen less consistent and even weaken the acrylic bond that should form under more ideal circumstances. We will work with you to best determine when your projects exterior should be painted.
